This is a young adult female she has not laid eggs for us but may be able to next season or the following. She does have a nipped tail which wont effect her breeding and is common in this species as this likely happened when she was a baby from a tank mate.

Alligator Snapping Turtles are the largest freshwater turtles in America. It can be distinguished by the common snapping turtle by 3 distinct rows of spikes on the shell. These amazing turtles make amazing pets and should be handled with care!
